Play On! is about giving every Queensland child the opportunity to experience the benefits of sport. The Queensland Government is backing families by making participation more affordable, reducing barriers to getting involved and helping more children, particularly those in regional Queensland and children with disability, get active, join a local club and thrive through sport.
As Play On! grows, we'll continue introducing new initiatives that help even more Queenslanders get in the game.
Our signature Play On! Sports Vouchers program
Our $200 Play On! Sports Vouchers program is helping more children than ever experience the benefits of sport, build confidence, make connections and lead active, healthy lives.
In Play On! Rounds 1 and 2:
- Almost 294,000 vouchers redeemed.
- Almost 14,000 vouchers have been redeemed by Queensland children with disability – a 33% increase.
- 129,050 vouchers have been issued to girls – an increase of almost 30%.
- More than 3,750 Queensland sporting clubs are now accepting vouchers, with almost 2,500 clubs offering disability programs.
Play On! Learn to Swim
In Queensland, learning to swim isn't just a sport, it's a life skill. Play On! Learn to Swim is helping families with the cost of swimming lessons by providing vouchers of up to $150 for children aged 0–4, giving more young Queenslanders the confidence, water safety skills and active start they deserve.
Pathways for athletes, coaches and officials
Talent is everywhere in Queensland, and the Queensland Government wants to make sure opportunity is too — that's why we're ensuring there are pathways from grassroots to elite. The new Grassroots to Gold program will deliver the biggest-ever boost to talent pathways by backing more young athletes, coaches and officials in all corners of Queensland to pursue their sporting ambitions by providing support for travel and participation, and greater assistance for athletes and officials with disability.
